Meet A'Londa

A’Londa L. Barber-Kusimo is a dedicated community advocate, accomplished entrepreneur, and proud Texan with a lifelong commitment to service and leadership. She is running for DeSoto City Council - Place 3 to bring transparency, bold decision-making, and inclusive representation to the city she loves.

A Foundation Rooted in Service and Excellence
Born to an educated mother and a distinguished father who served honorably as a veteran of the United States Armed Forces, A’Londa was raised with a deep appreciation for education, hard work, and community values. Her family relocated from El Paso to Dallas, where she pursued her passion for the arts as a classical dancer at Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. She later earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business and Speech Communication from Sam Houston State University, where she discovered her talent for business and creative expression.

Entrepreneurship and Advocacy
A’Londa’s entrepreneurial journey began with a vision to combine creativity with purpose. She founded Percibility, LLC™ and LonnieB Creative Designs, businesses dedicated to turning visions into reality through innovative graphic design and branding solutions. Her work has empowered countless individuals and organizations to achieve their goals.

Her passion for empowering youth and fostering community growth is evident in her partnerships with the City of DeSoto Chamber of Commerce and Parks & Recreation. She also partnered with Texas Trust Credit Union as a guest speaker for their Youth Money Camp, sharing valuable financial literacy insights with the next generation of leaders. She has led initiatives such as a Computer Summer Program and provided paid internships for young people, equipping them with valuable skills and opportunities for success. As a member of the City of DeSoto Charter Review Committee, A’Londa has demonstrated her commitment to ensuring effective and transparent governance.

Inspired by her personal journey of resilience and faith, A’Londa has become a champion for those seeking to overcome obstacles. She is an international best-selling author of “Journey of a Sista on the Downlow” (Volumes 1 & 2) and a contributor to the inspirational anthology “Finding Joy in the Journey” (Volumes 1 & 2). Her powerful storytelling has inspired individuals worldwide to embrace their truth and pursue their dreams.

A’Londa is an active member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, and a devoted mentor to young women. Her leadership extends to her church and community, where she continuously works to uplift and empower others. Her guiding principle, “Standing for what is right, A'Londa is your Voice,” reflects her unwavering commitment to advocating for all residents of DeSoto.

A’Londa resides in DeSoto with her husband, Emmanuel. In her free time, she enjoys dancing, reading, and bringing joy to others with her humor and positivity. She draws daily inspiration from her desire to see others excel and become empowered to reach their full potential.
